My attempt at abstracting sea anemones inside the aquarium of the Pt. Defiance Zoo. The glass displays were really gummy and grimy and overall the whole aquarium is not too photographer friendly so I decided that getting up close and finding some finer details was going to be 10 times more interesting as well as being able to achieve 10 times the results. I still want to make it over to the Seattle Aquarium (our closest version of a real aquarium, or quality I should say) but in the meantime I was really happy to achieve this. And the crummy conditions did force me to work more and be more creative, which is always a plus. Enjoy!

So I just watched Apple's iPad Keynote and it struck me, almost immediately, that Apple had bought up Delicious Library, the famous Mac software written by Wil Shipley of Delicious Monster.

My first thought was as to how they kept this buy-out from trickling out to the press? But then Techcrunch did an article about it and apparently Wil Shipley didn't know a thing about it until today.

Groan.
Every once and a while, Apple does something so blatantly evil that even I am given pause. There is no way to say it, but this is just pure evil. As Techcrunch rightfully points out, Delicious Library has won the coveted Apple Design Award not once, but TWICE. And what makes it worse, Wil Shipley is one of my favorite Mac bloggers and generally an all around nice guy. I mean, he once wrote an blog entry entitled "MacBook Air Haters: Suck My D*ck."
Wil Shipley also happens to be the originator of one of the most hilarious interludes in the history of mankind. An interlude which read:
"Look, I don't want to seem mean. I'm sure she's a very nice person in real life, and probably quite smart. And, she's a very handsome woman, I'm not denying that. But, honestly, Jessica Alba can't act. It's just not a skill she has.
It's OK. Not everyone was meant to be an actress. But you really have to admit your limitations to yourself. I know, for instance, I'll never be a supermodel. I'm OK with that. I'd make a lousy president, too. I accept it.
It's time to stop, Jessica. You're costing people money. And YOU would be happier doing something you know you're good at, that you could feel good about. There are LOTS of professions for preternaturally beautiful women out there. You could be one of my assistants, for instance.

Wil Shipley is a Mac god to me. It only makes sense that Apple cuts him some sort of check. Of course, in the update to the Techcrunch article, Wil actually admits that he has been offered buy-outs from both Google and Apple and refused. He also admits that his lead designer was hired by Apple and is now part of the iPad team.
Holy smokes. I'm speechless.
